BMW i–products and Services for Urban Mobility

[Abstract]
Under the new Subbrand BMW i, new mobility services providing an intelligent link-up of transport and location-based information are provided. Examples like the innovative Carsharing model DriveNow and BMW i ventures, a ventures capital company that invests in start-ups for location based mobility solutions will be presented.

Bernhard Blaettel is Director Project Mobility Services at the BMW Group. The goal of the project is to develop premium mobility services for consumers in the ever expanding urban areas and or Mega Cities. Mobility Services include the carsharing offering DriveNow, as well as BMW I Ventures, a venture capital company that invests in start-ups for location based mobility services. Bernhard Blaettel has a Ph.D in physics and joined BMW in 1995. Since then he has been responsible for the Computer Aided Engineering Department and the Medium and Large Car Project in the Prototype Build Department. He was Director for Modeling Techniques in BMW Group Design as well as Director for Vehicle Product Strategy.

Recently cloud services have been expanded and enriched rapidly. The expansion encourages users to use data devices such as Tablets and Notebook PCs not only at home and inside premises but outside of them. The evolution of data device mobility will be presented.
